"there was nothing you could say about Peter Dutton that could make you think less of him", nope, not just you.

My dearest wish is that the grandstanding pieces of sh*t who start these wars would be obligated not to put their own sorry as*es out there, but their own f*cking kids. Not too many plain, white marble grave markers for those kind folks or their kin, but they have legions of lawyers. As has been duly noted by our correspondent.

I could NOT agree more, ivalley! And given the stomach-churning response of Dutton to the Latchford Barracks torture of young RAAF recruit Alister French - let alone the deliberate delays to SAS murder charges of civilians in Afghanistan ... sickening the kinds of things permitted within the usually closed doors of Barracks - with no consequences! Now under Dutton's watch!

Latchford Barracks has always had some problems. It is (or at least was) the army's trade school, and the apprentices had a reputation for poor behaviour.

Thanks, Dave - this kind of information opens out Dutton's version of a mere 00.01% of bad apples = now possibly engulfing him in his own kind of lying - in addition to those of Morrison...

I spent a bit over a month there at the co-located School of Military Survey on a Sergeants' course, in 1985. We stayed _well_ away from the apprentices.

John: Do you know of any Crowd-funding link set up for Mr Shane Bazzi? I can't in any case get my head around how any politician can sue for defamation and rake in tens of thousands? If the payout was - let's say a fixed sum of no more than $10,000 - it should immediately be put into consolidated revenue - not into the politician's personal wealth account. I recall this was how both Abbott & Costello (the political stuntsmen - not the Hollywood comedians) gained a payout - or Joe Hockey - before later heading off to more public money largesse later in his public trough feeding as "Ambassador" to Washington DC - too many politicians follow this pathway to personal enrichment. As for Dutton's call to arms and war - I've just finished reading James Bradley's 2015 book The China Mirage - detailing US perfidy from the 1840s in the heroin trade in China all the way through to the post-Viet-nam War involvement/engagements till the early 2010s. Including Formosa/Taiwan. It is essential reading should you wish to understand the current US vendetta/paranoia into which we have been implicated by Morrison, Payne, Dutton. James Bradley was born in 1954 - his father was one of the iconic team raising the flag on Iwo Jima in early 1945 as the war headed to its conclusion.

Oh, and Dutton could do the honourable thing and donate his winnings to charity. But I won't hold my breath.

Jim, there was a funding drive at https://chuffed.org/project/the-people-v-peter-dutton-legal-fund by David Shoebridge of the Greens, but it seems to have achieved its goal pretty quickly and is now closed.

Mercurial - talk of right hand and left hand - I've just checked - I had indeed made a contribution (small) - but some months ago! So thank-you for reminding me...and clearing the possibility of guilt that I might not have supported Mr Shane Bazzi! (Hand smacks his own forehead!)

Noted the official response from China today, thanking Morrison for sending ADF to protect Chinese ppl and their businesses in the Solomon Islands.

Kinda at odds with Dutton's hawkish rhetoric, exposing it as the shameful political opportunism it is.

But that will be ignored by MSM. They'd rather see LNP win with Dutton as leader, than lose under Morrison.

The truly horrific consequences for Australia, if the Defence Minister became PM, matter little when their bottom line might be impacted under a Labor govt!
