I'm happy with the thinky Putin insights rather than the ScoMo jokes. The recent performance of our Butterball Brained PM has been hilarious enough. The latest photo ops are surely some form of self parody, he couldn't think anyone is taking him seriously anymore. In a few months time he'll go join the Onion Muncher and we can debate which of them was the worst PM ever.
We wrote him off last time remember. As a life long lefty I don't believe the opposition will be much better. The two party system, along with politics in general, is corrupt to its core. Democracy is in trouble world wide because of the people involved in it. The worst of the worst enemies of true democracy being the staffers, consultants and advisors that infest it in my opinion.
I'm not sure that it matters which party. I think that its the two party adversarial system and the kind of people it attracts. I spent many years in the Labor party and I was as vicious an adversarial bastard as anyone. I've met a lot of intelligent people in school councils and the like who would have made great politicians until they get yelled at or intimidated. They go to water and nasty, hard men, with a fraction
of their intelligence and compassion, walk off with the lollies.
Amazing to think that a country with just about the same GDP as Australia’s (and less than Canada’s) has thousands of warheads in its backyard like the half-done science experiments of a family’s gifted child. It’s almost like the Putin regime is a man who has to cart his dick around in a wheelbarrow in front of him but doomed to circulatory collapse when things get hard.
Enjoyed the brainful analysis, if not what it portends. No need to supply analysis about Morrison, I'm getting really sick of that shit gibbon anyway. This stuff is a bit higher up the food chain at the moment. Love to get your take on the Pro Putin, and mobs in Oz and US. So surreal to see the hard right barracking for the Russians. Imagine 20 years ago if Republicans openly supported a Russian dictator over their own President...crazy fucking times man crazy times.
Your insights re wars is always appreciated. If you wanted to I'd enjoy remembering your time up the Cross. Bullet holes in bank windows and mad bastards everywhere. Good times
If you'd really like to cheer up read the court suppressed facts in the case of the cop who killed Kumanji at Yuendumu. Will we ever wake up and demilitarise the police ?
I'm picking a chemical attack or battlefield nuke he blames on Ukraine. Suggested response is a truck nuke near the Kremlin blows away Putin and, sadly, a few hundred thousand semi-innocent Muskovites. I'm also wondering if Ukraine can raise a sort of Vlasov Army, actively seek defectors, maybe officers who will turn entire units over, perhaps Byelorussian... drive said column into Russia...
I find it very hard to believe the Russian army incompetence theory. I think that they could throw enough conventional hardware at Ukraine to subjugate it if that's what they wanted. I think that their approach is to terrorise the Ukrainians for a while, consolidate what they've gained and keep the rest of the world guessing. Surely the Russians know better than anyone that occupation is hard, expensive, dirty work. I've been amazed how people seem to have instagrammed this into a meme fest. Truth being the first casualty of war seems to have been weaponised in the social media age. Putin is a rotten bastard in a world full of rotten bastards of which we have our own splendid examples.
I understand that ex-PM Howard recently (yesterday) anointed Peter Dutton as the next PM. So you might have to be quick. We can live in hope, unless nuclear Armageddon gets us first.

I do think we can make a judgment of the Liberal-National side being just a little bit more corrupt than Labor. At least on recent performances!?

Don’t apologise, that’s some good wordsmithin’ analysis JB.
Mate, bitter-sweet reading your analysis of the situation.
Great to read genuine, well-thought essay.
Not so great that it is true.
You've got no hope of a job at Murdoch.
The only way this can end well is with Vlad's head in a bag at the bottom of the Black sea

Shit. I fear you are right. All hail the valor of the Ukrainians, though.

Nice one

Well, that was cheery way to unwind on a Friday afternoon. Thanks...
Yeah, I really gotta go back to ScoMo jokes.

Please...
tbf ScoMo isn't anywhere near the seriously we have to say something about Putin pretending to be Stalin
