Atham-Lebbe Farsith, a waiter in a one-room curry house in Ampara did not understand why the customer was So Fucking Angry. All of the customers were angry. The man at the counter was waving his plate at Farsith, screaming at him in Sinhalese, as the other customers added their voices to his, complaining that Farsith had added something to the meal.
Well, that's quite a frightening and thorough piece of journalism. Also depressing as hell. Grateful to have read it. The terrible trajectory is played out in a novel by Project Itoh titled Genocidal Organ, though in that story the weaponized media was a tool for a western power rather than to make a handful of rich arseholes more money. I appreciate for most western powers are a tool just for that purpose.
Great piece. Is breaking it up really the answer though? The obvious cleavages could easily go on with their own specialized version of the engagement algorithm. Burying the pieces and salting the earth sounds workable, but surely launching it into the sun, somehow, has to be more permanent?
I shared this on my FB (ironic really) This is what I wrote.
"Another John Birmingham piece..<have your gin ready> Read it. *Then go do something that makes you happy
*serving suggestion"
Thanks John. Chilling! I think the reptilian eyes are perfect!
This is a great piece, and it reinforces why I subscribe.

I had to wait until this morning to read this thinky piece in full. The red wine was adding too much to my outrage. Outstanding work once again.
Friggen scary when a website can rile Buddhists up enough to commit these atrocities.
This crystallised the disquiet I have felt, it also opened my eyes to the genuine evil that fb is capable of. A powerful piece.
Just read this - immensely disturbing. Humans are such shits.
