The longer the government dissembles, obfuscates and straight up lies like a motherfucker about the rape of Brittany Higgins, the more confused the story and event sequence can seem. But it’s not confusing. It’s pretty fucking simple, actually. Ms Higgins was raped in the Parliament House office of the then Defence Industry Minister, Linda Reynolds. Senior government figures covered up the crime. And the cover up is unravelling.
Its columns like this one that make me appreciate your move from writing for national newspapers as I don't imagine this one would have got through the lawyers quite as unscathed. Also his odious whataboutism mentioning the labor offices, which makes it sound like he knew about other rapes and hasn't investigated, which isn't quite the get-out-of-jail-free card he seems to think it is. For years I have jokingly used that great line form Star Wars to describe Parliament House' "A hive of scum and villainy" While there was always a good seed of truth in that, it is increasingly becoming a very accurate description, and what's worse, via this govt It's becoming normalised, as if there is or was no other way. There were always shit head characters but they used to make an effort to not get caught out and feared being caught out, now its just an inconvenience and a stressful week or two.

2nd Just read an article in the Guardian about Craig Kelly's 'Office Manager' or whatever he's called. Just... f them all. Arrogant and selfish... I can see an underbelly of what me and Australians don't trust in polititions.
"Speaking in response to the latest allegation, Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said it was very unfair to suggest this was just a Coalition problem.
"You would have to be kidding yourself if you thought this was just something that happened in the parliament. This sadly, sadly happens all around workplaces," he said."
So according to the deputy prime minister, it's ok that raping rapist gets to serially rape and use his government position to do so BECAUSE OTHER WORKPLACES HAVING RAPING RAPISTS TOO.
